When I came to Norway one of the biggest difference was that I lived in the city and I didn’t have as much nature as here in Notodden. That made me appreciate nature more than i would have done if I lived beyond the nature. I think people who lives beyond the nature and sees it everyday would not think of the nature as special as people from the city who might travel to experience the beauty of the nature. The city people is used to see a lot of buildings beyond and less forest and mountains.

I made up my mind to make a “wall” to block the natural view in the forest as it would be in the big cities because of the buildings. This is for making everyone to appreciate the natural view by losing the ability to see the view from where the bench is placed. This project contains two objects: A wall and a bench.

The place of the installation is important because it has a good view to see the whole forest with the mountains. The location between the trees makes the area more standing separately and defined from the rest of the place.

If someone pass by and see this installation in the forest, they probably think it’s just a normal bench to sit and relax on. So when they go and sit on it, they will notice that the wall is blocking their sight and they can’t see the whole view with the forest and the mountains. The person will be curious to see the view behind the “wall” and would go and check it. With this point, this “wall” will make the people appreciate the beautiful nature and think about what they can lose if it gets replaced with buildings.

Another thing I decided, is the kind of materials to use to make this installation. The materials had to be recycled wood. What I mean with this is wood-materials I collected from many different wood-trash containers. I dismantled the pallets and got many separated pieces of wood.
